Red Rocket Chicken Wings in Hamilton

A member on our Chicken Wing Festival facebook group and a new neighbour to boot, left a post about his favourite Chicken Wing place, and one place he mentioned was Red Rockets, which if I remember correctly is on Upper Ottawa, at Stonechurch.

We have ordered from there many times in the past, and I must admit they do have tasty chicken wings:)

Has anyone else ordered from Red Rockets?

Merry Christmas Hamilton

Ho-Ho-Ho, Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope that Santa has been good to everyone and that there where not to many lumps of coal in your stockings this morning!

If you have kids, I hope you got some great pictures of them opening up there presents, its great to see their little smiles and amazement when they open their presents isn’t it!

Christmas is all about giving, let’s not forget that, if you have not done something for the less fortunate, it’s not too late, drop some money into a kettle at the mall for the Sally Ann, drop some bags of groceries off at the food bank, or give generously to your staff or neighbours.

And speaking of neighbours, I challenge everyone right now to pick up the phone or knock on their doors, and wish them a Merry Christmas. If you don’t get along with your neighbour, today is a “ truce” day, be the bigger person and go by, knock on their door, extend your hand and wish them a Merry Christmas, go on, you can do it!

Hamilton Wingfest

Who wants a Wingfest in Hamilton!!!!

I do for one, that is why I have built and donated all my web design teams services to build this website, because it is a great idea for Hamilton!

My goals for this website are to educate, inform and hopefully get some feedback and discussion going on this subject, as it is one almost all of us can identify with having eating wings at some time in our lives!

The website as you see also has a blog where daily updates can be added for your reading pleasure also.

Next week we also be adding a forum, where one can go and join and get involved in the discussion, maybe even sharing a recipe along the way!

Till then enjoy!

First WingFest post

Chicken wings, also known as Buffalo wings, hot wings, or just plain 'wings', are chicken wing segments that are deep fried and then coated in a sauce. According to the Wikipedia entry on the subject, Buffalo wings were first prepared at the Anchor Bar at 1047 Main Street in Buffalo, NY on October 3, 1964. Teressa Bellissimo, the bar's co-owner, needed a fast and easy snack to serve to her son and his friends when they came in late one night. Improvising, she came up with the idea of deep frying chicken wings, normally thrown away or saved for stock, and tossing them in "Frank's Red Hot" hot sauce.

Some U.S. restaurant chains, serve them breaded. Other 'wing spots' offer wings coated with hot spices, such as Cajun or Caribbean-style. 'Pit' wings offered in Buffalo are fried, coated in barbecue sauce, then charred on the grill. It seems as if there are as many different preparation methods as there are chickens!

You'll learn more about not only wing preparation but also the whole WingFest phenomenon as this blog progresses. Please check back soon.
