Hamilton Wingfest Day 2

Wow, what a day, we started off with Maddie's Wish project which was an incredible success story, an estimated 5-600 walkers showed up, and they raised over $35,000.00, which as Sharon said to me is about a billion dollars in Kenya!

Well done everyone what a great start to the day.

In the afternoon we had some rain and thunder boomers, but it blew through and then the crowds started to come out in force.

My website is going ballastic with hits, we will set a new record today in the next hour or so.

I have lots of pictures also to upload, if you have any please feel free to send them over.

Thanks for coming out, so who has the best wings??

Canadian Wingfest Takes Flight

Yesterday the Canadian Wingfest moved from a dream to a reality, I spent most of the day down at the Waterfront, first a meeting with mayor Larry DiIanni, and then followed up with a second meeting with Councilor Chad Collins and Werner Plessel from the Waterfront Trust.

They took me for a tour after our talks discussing the plan, and showed me a empty wearhouse that we could use for part of the event, along with the new trail and Bayfront park.

Now you should know by now that my motto is go big or go home, and I see this festival turning into the biggest one this City has ever seen.

There could be so many different things that go along with this festival at the same time.

It could infact replace Aquafest.

Here are some ideas for the festival

1. Wingfest

2. Artist displaying work, and painting at the same time

3. The waterfront trail is 13 km's in length, how about a " Wingfest Walkathon"

4. Looking out over the water, I thought " Airshow"

5. How about bringing in some Tallships?

6. How about a Speed boat race?

7. How about some Water skiiers?

8. How about some rides for the kids?

9. How about some clowns, face painters?

10. How about some bands playing?

11. Maybe some guided tours of the HMCS Heida?

12. How about tours of the new Waterfront center?

This is just a start, but there is a great potential for this all to happen, more to follow on this.

Rotary Club Backs Canadian Wingfest

Yesterday I had a 3 hour meeting with members of the Hamilton Downtown Rotary Club of Hamilton whom expressed interest in helping out with our proposed wingfest to take place here in Hamilton.

The Rotary Club is very enthusiastic about this event, as they should be because there counterpart club in Burlington started the Ribfest in Burlington and they have a lot of experience in these type of events.

This is great, to run an event like this we need to find those individuals and service clubs that have the needed experience and drive to make an event like this happen.

This is a great start, I had a 30 minute conversation with Councilor Chad Collins later that day and he was very excited to know the building support for the wingfest idea.

More to come, get involved, sign up on our forum and Facebook group:)

Red Rocket Chicken Wings in Hamilton

A member on our Chicken Wing Festival facebook group and a new neighbour to boot, left a post about his favourite Chicken Wing place, and one place he mentioned was Red Rockets, which if I remember correctly is on Upper Ottawa, at Stonechurch.

We have ordered from there many times in the past, and I must admit they do have tasty chicken wings:)

Has anyone else ordered from Red Rockets?
